We just got our first international fan mail from GERMANY. Ja! Our lovely friend sent us an inscribed English-German dictionary to assist us in our future yet-to-be-planned tour to Germany as well as a separate note… in German. Danke, Steffen!

Biggest Littlest

We played a wonderful, fun show last night at Cheer Up Charlie’s. We loved the other bands and seeing so many of our friends as well as a ton of strangers.

The best part of the night may have been the little girl who stayed up past her bedtime to come to our show. Do you know what it’s like to have a kid be a little shy to talk to you and break all rules of kid-dom by showing up at a bar on a Saturday night with her dad to see your band that she’s so psyched to see??! I will tell you — it’s nothing less than thrilling. Big props to her pops, too.

You’ve already made my 2012.

If you live in Austin, El Paso, and maybe even Brooklyn, you’ve likely heard about the tragedy surrounding Esme Barrera. Despite hardly knowing her, our sadness is overwhelming in watching our friends and community grieve. We extend our deepest and sincerest condolences to all who were touched by Esme.

It’s the celebrated Free Week in Austin and it seems just about every band and venue in town is doing what they can to help support Esme’s family. Consider helping out if you’re in a position to do so.

We love you all. Stay safe out there. Despite this terrible event, we wish you nothing but love, joy, and tenderness in 2012.

Similarly to many people at this time of year, I’m reflecting on the current year which is nearing its close.

It’s been nothing short of fantastic in so many ways. Allow me, please, to become a bit sentimental as I am wont to do:

I love my amazing bandmate/huz more and more each passing day.
One year -> two albums. Having never released an album before (much less two as well as a guest vocal appearance on another album) I’ve realized our capabilities are more vast than we realize.
I have a niece! This was the only time I’ve visited a hospital this year (so far) and this makes me extremely pleased in additional ways.
Finding love, acceptance, and compassion at every turn.
THANK YOU. Thank YOU for everything. For caring, for opening your eyes, for sharing yourself.

Happy Xmas! If you’re in the know, we’ll see you tomorrow when we throw down some whiskey to celebrate this outstanding year and all of those to come. If not, believe you me — you’re in our hearts.

Thank you to everyone who helped us create our album and have a great CD release party! We played with Girl Dreams, Elaine Greer, and Hello Caller at Swan Dive. And thanks to buddy S Jones of The Lovely Sparrows for filling in on bass! A first in TLT history.
